Why This Screen

Pro-grade, piece by piece

A Reliable Starting Point for Any Simulator

A Reliable Starting Point for Any Simulator

The Carl's Place Standard Impact Screen is the most affordable entry point into home golf simulation — without sacrificing the essentials. It's built to withstand real golf impacts and delivers a clean, bright surface for projection.

Whether you're setting up your first simulator or outfitting a practice bay on a budget, the Standard screen gets you up and running fast.

Built to Handle Real Swings

Built to Handle Real Swings

Don't let the price fool you. The Standard Impact Screen is rated for full-speed driver swings and engineered to absorb impact without bouncing the ball back dangerously.

The woven fabric construction distributes force evenly across the surface, extending the life of the screen even under heavy daily use.

Clean, Bright Projection Surface

Clean, Bright Projection Surface

The white surface delivers a bright, vivid image that works well with most simulator projectors. Colors are rendered accurately and the screen handles both short-throw and standard-throw projectors.

For best results, pair with a darkened room to maximize contrast and image clarity.

Multiple Sizes for Every Space

Multiple Sizes for Every Space

Available in a range of sizes to fit any room or enclosure setup. From compact garage builds to dedicated simulator rooms, there's a Standard screen size that matches your space.

Each screen ships with reinforced edges and grommets for secure mounting to your enclosure frame.

Carl's Place Standard Impact Screen — the entry point to real golf simulation. A single-layer polyester hitting screen, made in the USA by Carl's Place, in 29 sizes from 7.7'×7.7' up to 10'H×18'W. If you want a projectable screen that takes real driver-speed shots without paying for image tech you don't need yet, this is the one to start with.

Find your size first — the wall decides, not the screen

Most screen regrets are sizing mistakes, not material mistakes. Measure your wall's height and width, subtract clearance for mounting hardware, then pick the closest size below your maximum — a screen slightly smaller than the wall is right; one that touches the ceiling or side walls is wrong.

Your space Typical pick Aspect ratio
10-foot wall or square garage bay 10'H × 10'W or 9'H × 10'W 1:1 / near-square
Standard room, 8-foot ceiling 7.7'H × 10'W or 7.7'H × 11.5'W 4:3 / 16:10
Two-car garage, wide bay 9'H × 12'W or 10'H × 13'W 4:3
Dedicated sim room, HD projector 9'H × 16'W or 10'H × 18'W 16:9
Shed / high-ceiling space 10'H × 15.5'W 16:10

Every size comes in 1:1, 4:3, 16:10 or 16:9 proportions. If you're between sizes, our guides on matching aspect ratio to your projector and sizing a two-car garage screen walk through the math.

Standard vs. Preferred vs. Premium — an honest comparison

Standard Preferred Premium High-Contrast Gray
Material Single-layer polyester Tightly woven, smoother surface Triple-layer heavy-duty knit Triple-layer, gray surface
Image quality Good for 1080p Better HD picture Best white-screen image, quieter impact Deepest blacks and contrast
4K projector? Not recommended Decent Very good Best
Best for First simulator, budget builds, replacement surface Most home setups Serious image quality, noise reduction Bright rooms, maximum contrast

Straight answer: if you're running a 4K projector or want theater-grade picture, the Standard is the wrong screen — step up to the Preferred or the High-Contrast Gray. If you're practicing with a 1080p projector, a launch monitor and net-to-screen upgrade, or building your first room on a budget, the Standard does the job for hundreds less. Our full Standard vs. Preferred vs. Premium breakdown goes deeper.

What to expect from the surface over time

Impact screens are wear surfaces — every screen at every price shows ball marks and fiber wear with use; that's physics, not a defect. What determines lifespan is your setup: hit from 10–12 feet back, use clean balls, and keep proper tension, and a Standard screen handles thousands of shots of everyday practice. See real-world numbers in how long an impact screen actually lasts and what really happens after 10,000 shots.

Projector pairing basics

The Standard's single-layer weave projects a clean 1080p image with a properly sized projector — roughly 2,500–3,500 ANSI lumens for a dim room, more if you have windows. Aspect ratio matters more than brightness: match the screen ratio to the projector's native output or you'll letterbox away usable hitting area. Start with the exact lumen ranges by room.

Three finishing styles

  • Classic — 2.5" black vinyl edges with grommets all around (bungee mounting; the standard pick)
  • Classic with Flaps — adds 7" nylon flaps with loop fastener strip for a framed, light-sealed look
  • Classic with Loop Fastener — 1" Velcro-compatible loop strip sewn on the edge for enclosure mounting

Specifications

  • Material: single-layer impact-rated polyester, white

I use the standard screen from Carl’s. I’ve used it for the past few years. Still working great.

No issues after a couple months of heavy use. 720p projector setup in the garage — works well for non-HD setups.

The Fine Print

Details & requirements

The Carl's Place Standard Impact Screen is a budget-friendly, woven polyester hitting surface designed for golf simulators. Built to handle full-speed driver swings, it provides a bright, smooth projection surface with reinforced grommets for easy mounting. Available in multiple sizes to fit any enclosure or room setup.

Screen Features

Screen Material & Construction

The Standard Impact Screen uses a woven polyester fabric designed specifically for golf simulator use. The tight weave pattern provides a smooth projection surface while maintaining the flexibility needed to absorb ball impacts.

Unlike cheaper alternatives, Carl's Place screens are purpose-built for golf — not repurposed tent fabric or projection screen material.

Grommets & Mounting

Every Standard Impact Screen comes with reinforced grommets along the edges for secure attachment to your enclosure frame with bungee cords, zip ties, or hooks.

The grommet spacing is designed to work with Carl's Place enclosure kits and most standard simulator frames. Mounting hardware is not included — use the attachment method that works best for your setup.

Projection Quality

The bright white surface provides solid image quality for simulator use. Colors are vibrant and the screen handles HD and 4K projector output.

For the best projection experience, use the screen in a room with controlled lighting. The Standard screen performs best in darker environments — if you have ambient light, consider upgrading to the High-Contrast Gray screen.

How It Compares

The Standard screen is Carl's Place most budget-friendly option. Here's how it stacks up:

  • Standard — Great value, bright white surface, ideal for dark rooms
  • Preferred — Thicker weave, quieter ball impact, better durability
  • Premium — Tightest weave, sharpest image, quietest impact
  • High-Contrast Gray — Gray surface for superior contrast in ambient light

Shipping & delivery

We ship across the contiguous United States, plus select destinations in Canada and Mexico. Alaska and Hawaii are excluded. Larger orders may arrive in several shipments from different warehouses — we'll send tracking for each.

Returns & warranty
