Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about golf simulators, ordering, setup, and support.

Getting Started
What is a golf simulator?

A golf simulator is an indoor setup that lets you play and practice golf year-round, regardless of weather. It typically includes a launch monitor to track your shots, a projector to display virtual courses on an impact screen, an enclosure, a hitting mat, and simulation software. You can play famous courses, practice your swing, and even compete with friends β€” all from the comfort of your home or garage.

Do I need golf experience to use a simulator?

Not at all! Golf simulators are perfect for complete beginners and experienced golfers alike. The instant shot feedback β€” club speed, ball speed, spin rate, launch angle β€” helps you learn faster than hitting at a range. Most software includes practice modes, tutorials, and driving range options. Many customers buy a simulator specifically to learn the game.

What's included in a complete simulator package?

A complete simulator package typically includes:

Launch Monitor β€” The sensor that tracks your club and ball data
Enclosure β€” The frame that holds the impact screen
Impact Screen β€” The screen you hit into that also serves as your display
Projector β€” Projects the simulation onto the screen
Hitting Mat β€” A turf surface to hit from
Simulation Software β€” The courses and practice tools

Our packages bundle these components together at a discount, so you have everything you need to get started.

How accurate are golf simulators?

Modern golf simulators are remarkably accurate. Premium launch monitors track dozens of data points including ball speed, club speed, launch angle, spin rate, and carry distance β€” often within 1-2% of real-world results. The accuracy depends largely on the launch monitor technology. Photometric (camera-based) systems like the GC3 and Uneekor models are considered the gold standard for accuracy.

Room Requirements
How much ceiling height do I need?

We recommend a minimum of 9 feet of ceiling height for a comfortable full swing with a driver. If you're 6'+ tall or have an upright swing plane, 10 feet or more is ideal. Many customers with 8.5' ceilings still enjoy their simulators by using shorter clubs or slight swing adjustments. Our Room Size Guide tool can help you determine what will work in your space.

What's the minimum room size?

The minimum recommended room dimensions are:
Width: 10 feet (12'+ preferred)
Depth: 15 feet (18'+ preferred for overhead projectors)
Height: 9 feet minimum

Larger rooms provide more comfort and safety clearances. A standard 2-car garage (20' x 20' x 9'+) is an ideal space for most simulator setups.

Can I set up a simulator in my garage or basement?

Absolutely! Garages and basements are the two most popular locations for home simulators. Key considerations:

Garage: Verify ceiling height, plan for temperature control, and consider a short-throw projector if depth is limited.
Basement: Usually excellent for light control (darker rooms = better projector image). Just check ceiling height and support columns that might interfere with your swing.

Both locations work great β€” check out our Room Size Guide for help planning your space.

Do I need a dark room for the projector?

A darker environment definitely produces a better image, but you don't need total darkness. Most projectors in our lineup are bright enough for rooms with some ambient light. For best results, use blackout curtains and avoid direct sunlight on the screen. Garage setups with the door closed work perfectly.

Installation & Setup
Can I install the simulator myself?

Yes! Our simulator packages are designed for DIY installation. We provide detailed assembly guides, setup videos, and calibration instructions. Most customers complete the full installation in a few hours to a weekend, depending on the package. Our support team is also available if you get stuck at any step.

What tools do I need for installation?

Basic tools typically needed include:

β€’ Power drill/driver
β€’ Level
β€’ Tape measure
β€’ Step ladder
β€’ Socket/wrench set
β€’ Stud finder (for wall-mounted enclosures)

Specific requirements vary by product β€” check the product page or installation guide for a detailed tool list for your package.

Do you offer professional installation services?

We don't provide in-house installation services currently, but the majority of our customers successfully complete DIY setups using our guides and support. If you'd prefer professional help, we recommend contacting a local handyman or AV installer. The installation is straightforward and doesn't require specialized skills.

How long does setup take?

Setup time varies by package, but here are general estimates:

Enclosure assembly: 2-4 hours
Projector mounting & alignment: 30-60 minutes
Launch monitor calibration: 15-30 minutes
Software installation: 15-30 minutes

Most customers have their simulator up and running in a single day.

Ordering & Payment
What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. For larger purchases, we also offer financing through Affirm and Shop Pay Installments β€” allowing you to split your purchase into monthly payments.

Do you offer financing or payment plans?

Yes! We partner with Affirm and Shop Pay Installments to offer flexible financing. You can split your purchase into monthly payments with rates as low as 0% APR for qualifying customers. Financing options are shown at checkout and on product pages. There's no impact to your credit score to check your rate.

Can I modify or cancel my order after placing it?

We process orders quickly, so contact us as soon as possible if you need to make changes. If your order hasn't shipped yet, we can usually modify or cancel it. Once an order has shipped, it would need to follow our standard return process. Email or call us and we'll do our best to help.

Do you price match?

We strive to offer the most competitive prices in the market. If you find a lower price from an authorized retailer on an identical in-stock item, contact us and we'll do our best to match or beat it. Exclusions may apply for clearance items, bundle deals, and unauthorized sellers.

Specific warranty details are listed on each product page. All warranty claims are handled through the manufacturer.

How do I start a return or warranty claim?

Contact our support team with your order number and a description of the issue. For returns, we'll provide a Return Authorization and shipping instructions. For warranty claims, we'll coordinate with the manufacturer on your behalf. Please do not ship items back without contacting us first.

Technical Questions
What simulation software is compatible with your launch monitors?

Our launch monitors support a wide range of software options including:

β€’ E6 Connect β€” Premium course library, stunning graphics
β€’ GSPro β€” Community favorite, 200+ courses, great value
β€’ TGC 2019 β€” Thousands of user-created courses
β€’ Awesome Golf β€” Beginner-friendly, clean interface
β€’ Creative Golf 3D β€” Fun mini-games and courses

Compatibility varies by launch monitor model. Check individual product pages for supported software.

What computer specs do I need?

Requirements vary by software, but here are general recommended specs:

OS: Windows 10 or 11 (Mac support is limited)
Processor: Intel i5 / AMD Ryzen 5 or better
RAM: 16GB minimum
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1060 / RTX 3060 or better
Storage: SSD with 50GB+ free space
Output: HDMI for projector connection

For the best experience, we recommend our pre-configured simulator PCs that are tested and optimized for golf simulation.

Short throw vs. standard throw projector β€” which do I need?

Short throw projectors sit close to the screen (3-6 feet away) and are ideal for rooms with limited depth. They reduce shadows when you stand near the screen.

Standard throw projectors are typically mounted on the ceiling 10-15 feet from the screen. They're often more affordable and work well in larger rooms.

Use our Projector Calculator tool to determine the best option for your room dimensions.

Do I need Wi-Fi for my simulator?

A stable internet connection is required for most simulation software (downloading courses, online play, software updates). Wi-Fi works, but we recommend a wired Ethernet connection for the most stable experience, especially for online multiplayer. Some launch monitors also use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to connect to your computer or tablet.
